Klyde Warren Park to Celebrate Pillars and Protégés at Park & Palate Oct. 13-14
DALLAS (June 9, 2017) – On Oct. 13 and 14, top chefs from around the country will come together for the third annual Park & Palate, Klyde Warren Park’s signature fundraising event. A celebration of notable chefs, master sommeliers, wineries, breweries and spirits, this year’s event theme is “Pillars and Protégés” and will highlight well-known and up-and-coming chefs from not only Texas but all over the nation.
Following its 2016 format, Park & Palate will feature two days of culinary creativity. Kicking off the weekend Friday, Oct. 13, is Down to the Roots, an exclusive fundraising event for park VIPs including sponsors, underwriters and donors. Down to the Roots will feature culinary pillars Dean Fearing, who will serve as the Chef Host for the evening, Kent Rathbun, Hugo Ortega, Jason Dady, Tyson Cole, Jon Bonnell and Becky Masson. Each pillar will be paired with a rising chef of their choosing whom they have mentored at one time or another, with each team’s collaborative dish competing to be named the favorite by guest judges. The winning pair will each receive a pair of custom Lucchese Bootmaker boots.
“We are thrilled to welcome back our generous event chairs, so many talented chefs and sponsors to the third year of Park & Palate,” said Klyde Warren Park President Tara Green. “Last year’s sold-out event was a huge success and allowed us to make improvements to the park and expand our year-round, free programming. We hope to see the same level of support this fall.”
The Grand Taste will be Saturday, Oct. 14, with Kent Rathbun serving as the Chef Host. The event is open to the public, and a full lineup of chef, winery and brewery participants will be released later this summer. Tickets to the Grand Taste go on sale at a special early-bird price of $60 on Monday, June 12.
Returning as co-chairs for Park & Palate are Lyn and John Muse and Carolyn and Rob Walters. Republic National Distributing Company is returning as the event’s lead sponsor. Klyde Warren Park is still seeking additional sponsors and individual underwriters.
“Klyde Warren Park welcomes more than 1 million guests each year,” said Park & Palate co-chair Rob Walters. “I am proud to stand alongside my fellow co-chairs and talented chefs to support the park and make sure it continues to be Dallas’ favorite active greenspace.”
Park & Palate will take place at Klyde Warren Park, located at 2012 Woodall Rodgers Freeway in Dallas. Tickets for the Grand Taste are $75 and can be bought online at parkandpalate.org. Proceeds will benefit Klyde Warren Park, which is managed by the nonprofit Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation.
