Heard Around the Park: Meet Joy, a Klyde Warren Park Staff Member

Each week leading up to North Texas Giving Day, we’ll share a new story from people whose lives have been influenced by the park and hear why you should “heart” the park, too.

This week, meet Joy, our new Programs Manager. She’s in charge of planning all of the free programs offered in the park each day. Hear why she loves working for the park.

How did you end up working at the park?

I’d been working in public gardens for 20 years almost and when I saw this position came open I thought it was a great opportunity to work for a new place that was growing and just jumped on it.

What is your favorite thing about working here at the park?

The team. From the day I started, I have felt like I was part of the team and there are not a lot of places that it happens that easily. That’s what helps make this park so amazing - the team.

Why should people give to the park?

If people come to the park because they enjoy the free stuff we have going on, they should give back so they can continue to see that. We are a unique partnership with the city in that we receive $0 from the city, which a lot of people don’t understand. So, without the public’s support, this park wouldn’t exist.

Klyde Warren Park is dedicated to enriching the lives of park patrons, bridging the surrounding neighborhoods and the region's multitude of cultures and remaining active through free programming and educational opportunities each year.
