Completing The Vision

Continuing to Grow with Dallas

From the moment Klyde Warren Park opened in 2012, it has welcomed more guests than we ever imagined, representing every neighborhood in Dallas, visitors from across the country, and international guests from around the world. As the Park has grown into one of the city’s most beloved public spaces, we have remained committed to ensuring it continues to evolve, innovate, and serve future generations. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, we continue to invest in this extraordinary Dallas asset.

2021-2022 Park Enhancements

In celebration of the Park’s 10-year anniversary, the Foundation and its generous supporters completed three transformative enhancements:

  • The space near Pearl Street was transformed into the iconic Nancy Best Fountain, inviting children to play during the day and illuminating the skyline each evening with choreographed musical performances.

  • One of the Park’s most beloved destinations, the Sheila and Jody Grant Children’s Park, was expanded and enhanced through a generous gift from the Perot family. The updated space includes new play equipment, a climbing wall, and the Sowden Family Pavilion for birthday parties and community celebrations.

  • My Best Friend’s Park, a favorite gathering place for Dallas dogs and their owners, was relocated across the street to a larger, shadier space that continues to delight both pets and people alike.

2026 Expansion Project

Beginning in 2026, Klyde Warren Park will expand nearly two acres to the west, toward Field Street, covering the final recessed portion of the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. Just as the original Park sparked transformational growth around it, we believe this expansion will serve as another major catalyst for development and activity in the urban core.

The expansion will feature a striking glass-and-steel pavilion suspended above the freeway between St. Paul and Akard Streets. The award-winning building will include approximately 24,000 square feet of climate-controlled event and reception space across two levels, along with an 8,000-square-foot rooftop terrace overlooking the city. Open to the public, the pavilion is envisioned as a vibrant destination that draws people into the heart of downtown, especially during evenings and weekends.

West of Akard, guests will discover The Jacobs Lawn, a 37,000-square-foot multi-use outdoor venue designed to host the kinds of festivals, markets, performances, and civic gatherings that help define a great city. During the winter months, the lawn will transform into an ice-skating rink, and there will be other exciting programming planned throughout the year.

Jacobs Lawn will also include The Overlook, a unique gathering space where guests can experience the energy of downtown Dallas while watching traffic disappear beneath them, a reminder of the remarkable engineering achievement that made Klyde Warren Park possible atop one of the busiest freeways in Texas.

The engineering and design process has been led by Jacobs in collaboration with HKS, and Gensler, alongside invaluable public partners including the City of Dallas, TxDOT, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
